Growing Ski Trip Bookings with Meta Ads

HULJS SKI Performance Marketing

HULJS SKI, the Croatian Association of Skiing and Snowboarding Enthusiasts, brings together more than 7,500 members from across Croatia. What started 10 years ago as a small group of skiing enthusiasts has grown into a big community connected by a shared passion for skiing, snowboarding, and spending time on the slopes.

The association aims to make skiing and snowboarding accessible, well-organized, and safe for everyone. Throughout the ski season, HULJS SKI organizes a wide range of trips and programs, including one-day and weekend ski trips, family and student ski trips, ski schools, and other group experiences. With a range of trips and programs, HULJS SKI brings together experienced skiers, beginners, families, students, and anyone looking to enjoy the mountains as part of a community.

Members can visit some of Europe’s most popular ski destinations, including Kronplatz, Sölden, Ischgl, Alta Badia, and the 3 Zinnen Dolomites.

Our Approach

After an initial meeting and discussion with the client, we defined two clear objectives and KPIs:

  • growing the HULJS SKI membership base, and
  • increasing ski trip bookings and purchases.

We focused our advertising on Meta platforms because their range of campaign objectives and ad formats let us reach relevant audiences while showcasing the unique HULJS experience. Rather than simply promoting individual trips, our ads aimed to capture and show the atmosphere, community, and experiences that make people want to be part of HULJS SKI. This gave us the opportunity to communicate both the practical side of each trip and the experience behind it, depending on the campaign and audience.

Throughout the collaboration, we tested different campaign approaches to identify what delivered the best results at the most efficient cost per conversion. Continuous testing and optimization helped us understand which approaches performed best and where to focus the advertising budget to maximize results. As performance changed throughout the season, we continuously adapted our activities and shifted the focus based on current priorities and results.

Creative diversity also played an important role in advertising. We used a combination of static images, carousels, and Reels, allowing us to present ski destinations, upcoming trips, and the HULJS SKI experience in different ways. Regularly introducing fresh materials helped us keep the campaigns relevant and avoid creative fatigue. Different formats also gave us more opportunities to test how audiences responded to destinations, offers, and content from previous trips.

Close and continuous communication with the client was another important part of the process. Regular updates on trip availability, booking trends, upcoming offers, and priorities let us react quickly, adjust campaigns as needed, and increase advertising around the opportunities with the greatest potential. Combined with a steady flow of new photo and video materials, this kept both the campaigns and creatives aligned with what was happening throughout the ski season.

The Results

Through Meta advertising and a mix of campaign approaches, creative formats, and ad messages, we met and exceeded the KPIs agreed upon with the client. Compared to the previous ski season, HULJS SKI achieved a 90% increase in memberships and a 140% increase in revenue, reflecting the strong growth recorded throughout the season.

By continuously monitoring campaign performance and testing different approaches, we identified what delivered the best results and allocated the budget accordingly. This improved campaign efficiency and drove more conversions during the season. At the same time, the campaigns helped HULJS SKI reach new potential members and keep upcoming trips visible to relevant audiences.

Meta advertising was also part of a broader communication mix. HULJS SKI actively supported its offers through organic content on its Facebook and Instagram profiles, including posts and stories, as well as newsletters and direct communication with its community, creating a strong connection between paid and organic activities.

With results exceeding initial expectations and agreed KPIs, the campaigns show how continuous optimization, diverse creative content, close client collaboration, and a strong mix of paid and organic activities can drive measurable business results.

I’ll be honest: I used to be firmly against agencies. For almost 11 years, we handled our own advertising, and we built a strong brand and a great community along the way. Anyone can run ads themselves, but how well they perform depends on the knowledge and experience of the person running them.

Choosing an agency felt like a big step at first. Then came the real turning point. Compared to the previous year, we increased our advertising budget by 300%, and it paid off with exceptional results, as this case study shows. What matters most is knowing whether every euro you invest in advertising will come back to you multiplied. For us, it has, and that’s why we’re continuing our partnership with Kontra.
